Food and Funds Drive

October 30-November

Join the Casady Community raising canned donations and funding
for the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma!

“This is so great, that I get food. Nobody really gets what it’s like to be hungry and not have different kinds of food in the house. We’ve just been eating bread because it fills us up and it’s cheap. My grandpa’s cancer came back and we spend all of our money taking him to Oklahoma City to the doctor. This food is great!”
16-year-old student who uses a School Pantry.

Our plan, and your help...
For years, Casady has been working with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma along with many other schools to raise canned food donations for those in need. This year YAC (Youth Active in the Community) wants to set a new record for cans and funds donated and we believe that with your help we can do that. So we are calling on you to help us raise money and donate cans.
Join us in our fight against hunger.

Casady Cans Do Food and Fund Drive 2017

Dear Members of the Casady Community

It is almost time for the annual
Students Against Hunger
Casady Cans Do Food and Funds Drive!!
Monday, October 30th - Friday, November 3rd

About 17 percent of Oklahoma's population is considered food insecure.

That means 652,090 individuals, more than 250,000 of which are children, are unsure where they will get their next meal, according to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap 2014 Report. That's a huge amount of people and if you choose to give just a little bit of what you have to them, it would be a great help!

In our community, food is often taken for granted and sometimes we tend to overlook those people who are in dire need of these basic necessities. This is our chance to give back to Oklahoma and to extend our help to families that need it.

One dollar is equal to 6 pounds of food, which means you are giving 5 Food Bank Meals to people in need!   You can drop your donations by the front offices and the UD Student Center from 10/30-11/3 at 7:15-8:10 am. We accept donations of cash, checks, and cans.  Checks payable to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.  Please consider donating to the Casady Food and Funds Drive this coming week!

Thanks,
Casady YAC ("Youth Active in the Community")

Letter by YAC Secretary, Malavika R’20

YAC welcomed Food Drive Speaker, Mrs. Natalie Wood to UD and MD Chapels. Ava R. introduced Mrs. Wood at UD Chapel

Natalie Wood started working at the Food Bank in May of 2016.  She was the Special Events and Marketing Coordinator.  Today she is assuming a new role, Manager of Donor Relations.  One of Natalie’s favorite experiences of her job is the opportunity to travel to different schools informing on ways students, faculty, staff and parents can help the fight to end hunger in  our state.

Mrs. Wood showed the following video to motivate reflection and inspire Cyclones to donate to the Students Against Hunger Fund and Food Drive 2017

YAC placed boxes and food bank flyers at all divisions during the YAC meeting on Tuesday, 10/24/2017
